Autumn Reflections

Greetings everyone,

It’s time for our fall update on Postvention Alliance news.  Yes, already!  As we transition from the heat of summer to the chill of fall, we have some items of interest to take note of:

Will Campbell’s film documenting the 2022 Youth Vision Mural Project premiered during JunkTown Cinema Club’s summer series and can be viewed on YouTube.  Take a few (7:31) minutes to be stirred by this eyewitness account of what a collaborative effort means to survivors. It’s a truly beautiful testament to both the power of community and the power of art.

Youth Group Events!

We’re excited to stand with Western Colorado Community Foundation in support of FLYG as they began their new series of health-focused youth . Their projects have already begun with a focused art-craft activity. The group created malas, learned deep breathing exercises, and discussed how these can be used together to manage anxiety and to cope through difficult times. Please follow the FLYG instagram feed for more activities!

#Collaborate

Thanks to BAM! for sharing our booth during Colorado West Pride fest.  BAM!’s community abstract painting was enthusiastically received by the many people who took part and signed their names. The table also rocked fab info on the TransLifeline, the Trevor Project, and SAGE Advocacy & Services for LGBTQ elders. Please follow BAM!’s instagram and facebook feeds for upcoming activities!

Community Service

Shout out to Caleb Ferganchick for producint the 4th annual Slamming Bricks Poetry Slam which was a highlight of CWP pride month. For the second year in a row, Caleb incorporated a mental health survey surveys into the event, adding to its already outstanding value.  Our treasurer Adrienne Cascarella was one of the competitors! If you’re interested in following the Western Colorado Writers’ Forum, they underwrite many fabulous events such as this throughout the year. People can order the Slamming Bricks: An Anthology 2nd Edition online here.

Double shout out for Caleb’s service as a featured presenter during the Montrose 2022 SPARC Youth Forum on Sept 17!
